“Did You Know…?”

New Research Suggests that Vitamin D Combined with Weight Loss Can Cut Cancer Risk in Older Women…  A recent study found that Vitamin D supplementation coupled with weight loss may help to reduce cancer risk in postmenopausal women. The weight loss and Vitamin D combination decreases inflammations linked to cancer and other chronic diseases and reduces the risk of developing these conditions.

In a prospective, double blind analysis of a broad set of inflammatory markers during a one-year period, researchers found that participants who both lost 5% to 10% of their body weight and took Vitamin D supplements saw the greatest reduction in interleukin-6 (a pro-inflammatory cytokine) when compared with women assigned a weight-loss regimen and placebo, significantly reducing their cancer and disease risk.
